Turning Back the Clock
As we get older, our skin starts showing all the long days spent out in the sun with freckles, sun spots, and redness. Photofacials can get rid of discoloration in only a few treatments and also treats large pores, broken capillaries, and melasma.
How Does Pulsed Light Technology Work?
Pulsed light is applied in a series of gentle pulses over the treatment area. Without damaging the skin, the light penetrates the sub-surface skin layers and is absorbed by the blood vessels or by the pigmentation. Each time you are treated, the spot will become lighter as the energy penetrates deeper, pulling more color to the surface. You may use IPL on any part of the body, including the neck, chest, arms, hands and more.
Is Intense Pulsed Light Safe?
Our IPL treatments are very safe. We have been thoroughly trained in safe parameters for treatment and always tailor the procedure to your specific skin type for best results. You need to make sure you have not tanned (in the sun, tanning bed, or spray tan) for at least 4-6 weeks before having a photofacial done. This increases your chances of having an unwanted side effect. It is best to do a series of photofacial treatments in the fall or winter.
What to Expect from Photofacial Treatments
IPL treatments range from 15 to 1 hour. First, the treated area is cleansed and a cool gel is applied. The light pulse is then delivered, with little or no discomfort. After treatment, the gel is removed and the skin is cleansed. you can resume all regular activities immediately. This procedure is often used in combination with our OBAGI skin care line, microdermabrasion, and chemical peels in Oklahoma City.
